St. Patrick's Week

No, this is not some lingering Catholic ritual. I've recovered from Catholicism!! I think what I have is early on-set Alzheimer's-- maybe I caught it from my husband--anyway, Little Miss Lucky's birthday is the day before St. Patrick's day, and her party was the day before her birthday, so I have been a day off all week! Sunday, we had a St. Patrick's theme birthday party where we all wore green, then, Monday, I thought it was St. Patrick's day cuz it was the day after we celebrated her birthday. So, we all wore green. Now, today, is St. Patrick's day--I haven't had any beer, I swear, green or otherwise, but it has been St. Patrick's day for 3 days already at our house!! School pictures day was listed as being on St. Patrick's Day, as well as Read and Feed--where you have lunch with your child and then find a quiet corner--in an elementary school??--and read a book together. So, yesterday, I dressed the kids up and did their hair before school. I called to say I had to go get exact change and what time did I need to have the money at the school? The secretary, Lori, said--picture day is tomorrow, so, I thought, Oh, OK, no scheduling conflict--I can make the read and feed at my other daughter's school (she goes to a special school for International Studies/Foreign Language). So, I drive clear across town. I walk into the school and inform some nosy woman who caught me at the door that I'm there for Read and Feed, and she tells me it is tomorrow! Instead of realizing my error when the first lady told me the next day was picture day and saying OK St. Patrick's day must be tomorrow, I spent half the day driving in circles!! So, now today IS St. Patrick's Day, and we don't have many green clothes that we haven't already worn, but I made it happen, mostly cuz my husband is a conformist and insists we must! Now is when I need that beer!
So, now about the party--I came up with the coolest idea I just have to share--it was a party for a baby, right? So, I was at the store (which was having a power outage), and as I am shopping in the dark, it hit me--BABY FOOD! I bought a bunch of baby food items that would be suitable for all ages, i.e. Gerber Twisted Fruit Snacks, Gerber Cheese Snack Crackers, Gerber Fruit Bits, Gerber Fruit Puffs, Little baby-size bottles of juice and those baby hot dogs that look like Vienna Sausages. And, in addition to the normal food, I served the guests BABY FOOD!! It was so funny! We also had lots of "green" food--broccoli with ranch, pickles, dill chips--I even put green food coloring in the Sprite. The decos were green--with a splash of pink to signify a baby girl--and it turned out great!! (Though I spent a bit too much!) Anyway! She had a fun day and the adults DID eat the baby food!! So, if you are in need of planning a baby party, go baby all the way!!
